About the Scanjet 8350
Thanks to the automatic document feeder, the Scanjet 8350 lets you scan up to 25 pages per minute. Plus, the included software offers document management, OCR capabilities and more. For instance, the HP Smart Document Scan Software makes it easy to create document profiles -- select document size, resolution, file type, destination and more -- and assign to buttons for one-touch scanning. Kofax VirtualReScan delivers intelligent color handling as well as the highest possible image quality and OCR accuracy for scanned images and documents. ISIS and TWAIN drivers allow easy integration into document management systems.

The Scanjet 8350 also lets you send a scan to a default printer with the touch of a button. In addition, it's also easy to adjust the resolution from 200 dpi black-and-white document scans up to 4800 dpi (48-bit depth). You can even scan 35mm slides, negatives and larger film sizes, using the built-in transparent materials adapter.

The Scanjet 8350 works incredibly fast, leaving you plenty of time for other things. For example, you can scan a 4 x 6-inch photo into Microsoft Word in less than 24 seconds; the system can also scan a full page of text into Word in less than 33 seconds. With the Scanjet 8350, scanning is as easy as it is fast thanks to a high-capacity automatic document feeder. Load up to 100 pages into the feeder, and get unattended scans of one- or two-sided pages. Work on other things, and then come back to find your high quality results. You can also scan single-sided pages at up to 25 pages per minute, or make two-sided scans at 50 images per minute. Dual scan heads contain sensors that scan both sides of the page with a single pass to save time.

The HP Smart Document Scan Software provides everything needed to scan, correct errors, convert and save electronic files. Use preset profiles to get started, then customize settings for one-touch scanning. For added convenience, a preview window shows each page as it is scanned. Rearrange, delete or add scanned pages. you can even use bar codes to manage workflow by separating jobs. « Really good scanner and paper feed »

The immediate "send to printer" function doesn't seem to work, but this really scans well, and has easy to use software. Good paper feeder

« One headache after another »

My employer here in San Francisco (I'm not in Kentucky like is says above) purchased one of these scanners to help us go paperless in the office. We have tons of paper documents that need to be scanned and archived. However, using this scanner has been one headache after another. Yes, it is fast, but it also jams often, and often grabs more than one page at at time(if this doesn't cause it to jam then it simply means pages end up missing in the scan). The worst part is that after a jamming episode it simply won't interface with Adobe Acrobat again unless it is shut down and rebooted. This happens A LOT. Sometimes it stops interfacing even without jamming. It's not unusual to have to reboot the scanner several times an hour. I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software issue, all I know is that it has been a pain in the neck for months. And of course, HP customer service is notoriously bad so that only makes a bad situation worse. We've barely had this scanner 6 months and have already decided to replace it. We recently ordered a Fujitsu FI-5120C and I have high hopes, based on its reviews, that my scanning headaches are over. As for this HP, what an expensive mistake it was. Also, btw, it makes a very annoying high pitched sound while scanning that made scanning very unpleasant.
